Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition
London-based tech brand Nothing has just launched its second Community Edition smartphone, the Phone (3a) Community Edition, blending fan creativity with the company’s signature transparent design.
Announced on December 9, 2025, this limited-run device celebrates community collaboration and pays homage to the late 1990s and early 2000s tech aesthetics.
Nothing Phone Community-Driven Design Wins The Day
The Phone (3a) Community Edition stems from Nothing’s 2025 Community Edition Project, which drew over 700 submissions across hardware, software, accessories, and marketing categories.
Four winners collaborated directly with Nothing’s London teams for nine months to refine their ideas.
Emre Kayganacl’s “Translucent Memories” hardware design took center stage, featuring a teal translucent back with playful pink and yellow accents that evoke nostalgic transparent Game Boys and retro gadgets.
This marks the first time Nothing has applied a frosted glass finish to the Phone (3a), adding a premium matte texture while preserving the iconic see-through look.
Nothing Phone Exclusive Software And Accessory Touches
Jad Zock contributed a custom lock screen clock that reduces visual clutter and dynamically transforms on wake-up, paired with four matching wallpapers (in blue and purple variants).
Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymond designed a fun bonus accessory: a set of six dice featuring Nothing’s Ndot 55 font, complete with a matching yellow-and-teal case and a mini game printed on the box.
This playful inclusion underscores Nothing’s mission to make tech enjoyable again.
Nothing Phone Identical Specs, Unique Appeal
Under the hood, the Community Edition mirrors the standard Phone (3a):
- 6.77-inch AMOLED display (120Hz, 3,000-nit peak brightness)
- Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
- Triple rear camera (50MP main with OIS + 50MP 2x telephoto + 8MP ultrawide)
- 32MP selfie camera
- 5,000mAh battery with 50W wired charging
The only changes are cosmetic and experiential, making this edition a collector’s item rather than a performance upgrade.
How To Get Nothing Phone – Act Fast
Only 1,000 units will be produced worldwide, priced at £379 / €379 / ₹28,999 / ¥59,800 (matching the regular 12GB+256GB model).
Registration for purchase invitations opened on December 9 and closes December 11, with sales starting December 12 at nothing.tech and select physical stores (including Nothing’s Soho location in London).
In India, a special drop event is scheduled for December 13 in Bengaluru.
Expect these to sell out quickly, just as last year’s glow-in-the-dark Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition did.
Why It Matters For Nothing Phone Fans
This release reinforces Nothing’s commitment to fan involvement, turning customers into co-creators.
While the base Phone (3a) remains an excellent mid-range option, the Community Edition adds exclusivity and nostalgia, perfect for collectors who value unique design over raw specs.
Suppose you are a Nothing enthusiast, head to nothing.tech now to register before the window closes.
This retro-futuristic gem will not last long.
