MG Hector Facelift

JSW MG Motor India has unveiled the 2026 MG Hector facelift on December 15, 2025, marking the third major refresh for its flagship mid-size SUV since its 2019 debut. With petrol variants now on sale starting at an introductory ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated Hector aims to reclaim momentum in a fiercely competitive segment.
Key Exterior Updates

The facelifted Hector retains its imposing silhouette but gains subtle yet impactful cosmetic tweaks for a fresher, more premium appeal:
- A bold new hexagonal chrome grille replaces the previous diamond-pattern design.
- Redesigned front and rear bumpers for a wider stance.
- New 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
- Two fresh colour options: Celadon Blue and Pearl White, joining existing shades like Aurora Silver and Glaze Red.
These changes enhance road presence without altering the core DNA that made the Hector a standout since launch.
Interior And Technology Enhancements

Inside, the focus is on refinement and cutting-edge convenience:
- Dual-tone themes: Ice Grey for the 5-seater Hector and Urban Tan for the Hector Plus (6/7-seater).
- The massive 14-inch portrait touchscreen gets upgraded hardware for smoother performance, plus innovative i-Swipe gesture controls – two-finger swipes for climate, three-finger swipes for audio.
- Retained premium features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, eight-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging, and connected car tech with over 70 functions.
Safety remains robust with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360-degree HD camera (now with wheel view), and essentials like ABS, EBD, and electronic stability control.
Powertrain And Pricing
No mechanical changes here – the Hector sticks to proven options:
- 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (143 PS, 250 Nm), paired with 6-speed manual or CVT.
- Diesel (2.0-litre, 170 PS, 350 Nm) returns in 2026; prices to be announced then.
Petrol Variant Prices (ex-showroom):
- 5-seater Hector: ₹11.99 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh
- Hector Plus (6/7-seater): ₹17.29 lakh to ₹19.49 lakh
This aggressive introductory pricing – notably lower at the entry level – makes the Hector more accessible than before (India Today, Autocar India).
Market Insight: A Timely Boost?

With over 1.5 lakh units sold, the Hector pioneered tech-loaded SUVs in India.
However, recent sales have dipped amid rivals like the Tata Harrier/Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and upcoming Mahindra XUV7XO gaining ground with fresher designs and powertrains.
This facelift’s sharper styling, gesture tech, and value pricing could help MG regain traction, especially among family buyers seeking space, features, and comfort.
Bookings are open now, with deliveries starting soon – a smart move ahead of the festive season spillover.
