David Boon to Join Cricket Australia Board in March
Former Australian cricketer David Boon will leave his role as an ICC match referee after the ICC Champions Trophy and take a position on Cricket Australia’s board.
He will replace Paul Green as Tasmania’s representative starting March 28.
CA chief Mike Baird praised Boon’s appointment, saying his experience as a player and cricket official will help shape the future of Australian cricket.
Boon’s Career in Cricket
Boon, 64, has been an ICC match referee since 2011, overseeing many international matches.
Before that, he had a successful career as a player, representing Australia in 107 Test matches and 181 ODIs, scoring 13,386 runs in total.
He was a key part of Australia’s 1987 World Cup-winning team in India. Boon is also the Chairman of Cricket Tasmania, further strengthening his role in cricket administration.
An Important Role for Cricket Australia
Boon’s deep understanding of international cricket will help Cricket Australia adapt to the changing game.
His experience will be helpful in player development, governance, and global cricket matters.
With this new role, Boon will continue contributing to Australian cricket, this time from a leadership position.
