Haryana Cracks Down on Exam Cheating: 25 Police Officers, 5 Invigilators Suspended
The Haryana government has taken swift action following alleged paper leaks in the Class 10 and 12 board exams, suspending 25 police officers and five invigilators.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed that 12 individuals, including eight students, have been charged with cheating or facilitating the leak.
The Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) conducted the Class 12 English exam on Thursday, which was reportedly leaked within 30 minutes in Nuh district, with images spreading on social media.
The Class 10 mathematics paper was also allegedly leaked in Punhana district on February 28.
These incidents prompted the government to take strict action against officials responsible for maintaining examination security.
According to an official statement, 25 police personnel, including four deputy superintendents of police and three station house officers, have been suspended for dereliction of duty.
Four suspended invigilators were from government schools, and one was from a private institution.
Two center supervisors have also been suspended.
Authorities have reinforced security measures, mandating unauthorized individuals remain at least 500 meters from examination centers.
Local administrations are held accountable for further breaches.
Cheating cases have significantly declined in Haryana due to new technological interventions.
In 2018, 5,064 cases were recorded, compared to 807 cases this year, demonstrating improved enforcement.
However, the latest leaks highlight ongoing vulnerabilities in the system.
Investigations are underway, and the government vows to implement stricter measures to prevent future breaches.
