In a developing story shaking the Kannada film industry, actress Krishi Thapanda has publicly addressed allegations of harassment against businessman and film producer Arvind Venkatesh Reddy, who was arrested on November 15, 2025, at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport.

The case highlights growing concerns over stalking and defamation in celebrity circles, with Thapanda emphasizing her commitment to personal safety amid intense public scrutiny.

The Allegations Surface

Thapanda, 36, who has appeared in over nine Kannada films and gained fame through Bigg Boss Kannada Season 5, filed a complaint on October 17, 2025, accusing Reddy of stalking, harassment, defamation, and physical assault.

According to details, the two met in 2021 when Reddy invited her as a guest to a cricket tournament inauguration in Sri Lanka.

What began as a professional interaction evolved into a close relationship, but Thapanda alleges it turned toxic by 2023 when she tried to distance herself.

Reddy, 43, founder of AVR Group and a real estate entrepreneur, reportedly began tracking her movements, morphing her photographs for social media defamation, and threatening her family.

In a harrowing escalation, Thapanda claims the stress led her to attempt suicide in April 2024 by consuming tablets at her J.P. Nagar residence.

While hospitalized, she alleges Reddy and his associates assaulted her in the ICU after she reiterated her desire to end the relationship.

Further accusations include Reddy demanding ₹1 crore, sending anonymous letters to her friends and family accusing her of illicit activities, and secretly photographing her at Bengaluru airport for defamatory purposes.

Thapanda had previously approached the State Women’s Commission and Cyber Crime Police, but the harassment allegedly resumed in August 2025.

Reddy’s Arrest And Counterclaims

Reddy was apprehended upon returning from Sri Lanka, where he attended a cricket event, following a lookout notice issued by authorities.

He was interrogated and later granted bail by the 46th ACMM court in Bengaluru.

In his defense, Reddy claimed he gifted Thapanda a customized Porsche and a luxurious house, asserting they were in a live-in relationship and had planned to marry in June 2024.

He denied posting obscene content, stating he only shared a fan club photo on Instagram, and accused her of ongoing contact and causing trouble.

Police are now verifying the claims, including social media activity, anonymous letters, and prior complaints, with the case transferred to the Govindaraja Nagar police for investigation.

Thapanda Breaks Her Silence

On November 16, 2025, Thapanda took to Instagram to address the controversy, breaking her silence amid cyberbullying and hateful comments.

In her story, she stated, “For my safety, peace of mind, and life, I have done what I had to. I am firm on my truth.”

She condemned defamation, saying, “No one has the right to defame or speak ill of anyone,” and thanked supporters, including law enforcement, media, and friends.

Thapanda also highlighted her financial limitations, noting her “capacity was only ₹10,000” and she lacked the means to repay alleged expenditures, countering Reddy’s gift claims.

Broader Implications For The Industry

This case underscores the vulnerabilities faced by women in the entertainment sector, where professional networks can blur into personal entanglements.

Thapanda’s decision to speak out, despite public backlash, could encourage others to report similar issues, fostering a safer environment in Sandalwood.

As investigations continue, it serves as a reminder of the need for robust support systems against harassment.

Experts note that such high-profile incidents often lead to increased awareness and policy changes, potentially influencing how celebrity events and sponsorships are managed to prevent exploitation.

For now, the Kannada film community watches closely as legal proceedings unfold, hoping for justice and resolution.
