Mumbai: Social media star Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, appeared before the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Ghatkopar on Thursday morning and was questioned for over six hours in connection with a ₹252 crore mephedrone trafficking and manufacturing case.
Orry reached the ANC office around 11 AM and left close to 6 PM after his statement was recorded.
Orry Denies Knowing Accused ‘Lavish’
According to senior police officials, Orry completely denied knowing Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, alias “Lavish”, the key accused recently extradited from Dubai, or attending any drug-fuelled parties organised by him in Mumbai or abroad.
“He has admitted to attending several high-profile parties in Mumbai and Dubai but claimed no knowledge of drugs being supplied or consumed at those events,” a senior ANC officer told reporters outside the Ghatkopar unit.
No arrest was made, and Orry was allowed to leave after the marathon session.
Police To Verify Statement With Digital Evidence
Investigators have seized Orry’s phone and are now cross-verifying his version with:
- Call Data Records (CDRs)
- WhatsApp chats and social media DMs
- Financial transactions
- Statements of the co-accused
“Further summons to other celebrities mentioned by Lavish, including Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, Zeeshan Siddique, rapper Loka, and others, will be issued only if concrete evidence emerges from Orry’s verification,” the officer added.
From Travis Scott Concert To Police Station
Just 12 hours before facing questioning, Orry was spotted enjoying American rapper Travis Scott’s concert in Mumbai on Wednesday night, dancing alongside other celebrities.
Hours after leaving the ANC office, he posted a cryptic selfie on Instagram Stories with his signature one-word caption: “Liver” – internet slang for living his life unapologetically.
Background Of The Case
The probe began with a March 2024 raid on a mephedrone lab in Sangli, Maharashtra, where 126+ kg of MD worth ₹252 crore was seized.
Recent extraditions of Taher Dola and “Lavish” Shaikh, both allegedly linked to the Dawood Ibrahim network, led to confessions about supplying drugs for exclusive celebrity parties.
What Happens Next?
- ANC expects to complete the technical analysis of Orry’s phone data within 48–72 hours.
- If discrepancies are found, he could be summoned again.
- Sources say the cell is preparing notices for at least 4–5 more high-profile names in the coming week.
As of now, Orry remains a witness, not an accused.
The Mumbai Police have reiterated that being named by the accused does not imply guilt, and every individual will get a fair chance to present their side.
