New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate two completed sections of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a transformative project set to reduce travel time between the national capital and the Himalayan state by over two hours.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has confirmed that these sections are ready for use, with all inspections and safety audits completed.

The expressway, a key infrastructure milestone, spans a 32-kilometer stretch divided between Delhi and adjoining regions.

The 17-kilometer elevated segment connects Akshardham to areas like Geeta Colony and Shastri Park, while the remaining 15 kilometers pass through Ghaziabad and Baghpat, linking to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

Designed in two phases, the project faced delays but was finalized in November 2024.

Before the likely inauguration, heavy vehicle testing and safety inspections were conducted to ensure compliance with international standards.

Authorities are now awaiting a confirmation of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) ‘s time slot. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is also expected to attend the event.

The expressway promises to boost economic activity and ease transit for commuters and tourists alike.

With its inauguration possibly timed before the Delhi Assembly elections, this landmark project underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and connectivity across India.
