Raghav Chadha Refutes AAP Allegations, Terms Campaign a ‘Coordinated Attack’

Raghav Chadha refutes AAP allegations, calling them a 'coordinated attack'. The Rajya Sabha MP denies skipping Opposition walkouts.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has strongly denied allegations made by his own party and described the criticism directed at him as a “scripted campaign” and “coordinated attack”.

In a video statement released on YouTube, Chadha said he initially chose not to respond but decided to speak out because repeated lies could be perceived as truth.

He addressed three specific charges levelled by the AAP that reportedly led to his removal as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and the party’s decision to deny him permission to speak in Parliament.

1. Allegation of not joining the Opposition walkouts

Chadha dismissed the claim that he remains seated when the Opposition walks out of the House.

“This is a blatant white lie,” he said.

“I challenge anyone to point out even a single instance when the Opposition staged a walkout, and I did not join them. Parliament is equipped with CCTV cameras everywhere. Bring out the footage, and the truth will be clear.”

2. Allegation of refusing to sign the Chief Election Commissioner impeachment motion

The party had accused Chadha of refusing to sign the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.

Chadha rejected the charge outright. “No AAP leader, neither formally nor informally, ever asked me to sign the motion,” he stated.

He pointed out that the AAP has 10 Rajya Sabha members, of whom six or seven did not sign the motion themselves.

He further noted that the motion required only 50 signatures from the 105 Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha. “So why is all the blame being placed on me alone?” he asked.

3. Allegation of raising ‘irrelevant’ issues out of fear

Chadha also refuted the suggestion that he had become “scared” and was now raising inconsequential matters.

“I did not go to Parliament to create noise, shout, break microphones or abuse anyone,” he said. “I went there to raise the issues of the people.”

He listed several subjects he has consistently highlighted during his four-year parliamentary tenure: Goods and Services Tax (GST), income tax, Punjab’s water crisis, Delhi’s air pollution, the condition of government schools, strengthening public healthcare institutions, problems faced by railway passengers, mental health, unemployment, and inflation.

“My track record of four years in Parliament is there for everyone to see,” Chadha asserted.

“I went to Parliament to create impact, not ruckus. Parliament runs on taxpayers’ money, and I am there to raise the issues that concern taxpayers.”

Concluding his statement, Chadha declared, “Those levelling false accusations against me today will be exposed. Every question will be answered. Because I am wounded, I am dangerous.”

He ended the video with “Jai Hind”.

The remarks come amid reported internal differences within the AAP.

The video, titled “I didn’t want to speak, but if I remained silent, even the oft-repeated lie would seem true,” has been shared widely on social media.
