Congress Party In Karnataka Faces Internal Fight Among Its Muslim Leaders

Karnataka Congress faces internal fight among its Muslim leaders after Davangere South bypoll. The party's high command takes action against senior members.

The Congress party in Karnataka is dealing with a big internal problem among its Muslim leaders.

This started after a by-election in Davangere South on April 9.

The trouble began when the party chose a young man, Samarth Mallikarjun, from a powerful family to run in the election.

Many Muslim leaders in the party wanted a Muslim candidate instead, because the area has a large number of Muslim voters, about 75,000 to 90,000 people.

After the voting, some Muslim Congress leaders spoke out.

They said other senior party members tried to hurt their own candidate.

They held a press conference and named people such as Housing Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, MLC K. Abdul Jabbar, and MLC Naseer Ahmed.

They said these leaders did not campaign properly and even secretly helped rivals.

The party high command took quick action.

They accepted K. Abdul Jabbar’s resignation from his post as head of the party’s Minority Department.

They also asked Naseer Ahmed to step down as the Chief Minister’s political advisor.

They started an inquiry into others, including Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said clearly that action is being taken.

Important Point: Both the leaders who complained and the leaders who were blamed are Muslim Congress members. This shows it is a fight inside the party, about tickets, power, and who gets what, and not the government going after Muslims.

Congress has always received strong support from Muslim voters in Karnataka.

The party is now trying to fix this problem and keep everyone together for future elections.

This is not a case of the government targeting any community. It is simply the party sorting out its own internal issues.
